Number of people living with HIV: 134 (31.12.2010, Institute for Public Health, Department of Epidemiology) In the period of 1987-2010 cumulative number of HIV registered cases in Macedonia is 134. Till 31 December, 2010, 71 PLHIV or 53% of all registered cases are alive.
Number of people newly infected with HIV: In 2010, 14 newly positive cases are registered.
Number of AIDS-related deaths: 63 (out of 134 PLHIV by the end of 2010) In the period of 1987-2010 total of 63 PLHIV died (47% of all registered HIV cases).
Percentage of people living with HIV receiving antiretroviral therapy: 77.8% Percentage of adult and children with HIV known to be on treatment 12 months after initiation of ARV therapy is 77.78%. The total number of PLHIV enrolled in HIV treatment, care and support is 36. The number of patients ever enrolled in ARV treatment as of December 2009 is 27. The percentage of adults and children with advanced HIV infection receiving antiretroviral therapy is 5,53% for 2008 and 5, 43% for 2009.
Infections according to modes of transmission: The predominant mode of transmission is heterosexual, followed by homosexual and intravenous, although homosexual transmission has been underreported due to the high level of double stigmaand discrimination
